Morning everyone!
My morning has NOT been a good one– I’m losing my mind from the fire alarm testing they are conducting in our apartment complex today. Don’t get me wrong– I am grateful for the very effective fire alarms we have in each of our units. They are SCREECHINGLY LOUD and are equipped BLINDING STROBE LIGHTS. There is no way ANYONE could ever sleep through a fire with these suckers.
However… I had no idea that “testing” these things would involve them going off intermittently ALL MORNING!! My poor dog is losing her mind (and her ear-piercing barks aren’t helping matters either!) I don’t blame her, though. I want to scream, too.
So, Yasha and I have escaped to my bedroom, hiding from the flashing strobe lights and screeching alarm. Sounds like fun, huh?
Before the madness started, I was fighting with my new coffee pot:
I think it’s always a bit difficult to adjust to a new coffee maker. I had my coffee-to-water ratio down pat with my old machine. Now it’s a whole new ballgame. I used my old ratio with the new pot, and it tasted way too strong! What gives?? I make pretty small pots of coffee, so I think that has something to do with it… and my new machine has a function that helps you make smaller pots taste like big pots, so I’m still playing with that. Hopefully I’ll be back to drinking normal-tasting coffee again soon.
Breakfast this morning was my favorite comfort meal:
1/3 cup oat bran, 1 cup water, cinnamon, nutmeg, liquid stevia and topped with one tablespoon almond butter and a drizzle of pure maple syrup. Nom nom nom.
