Mini-Goal Monday

I don’t know about the rest of you, but for me Mondays are always filled with renewed motivation to be healthier, typically fueled by a weekend of over-indulgence. After our “practice” HOG-fest last night, that is definitely the case for me!

So I’m proclaiming each Monday from here on out to be Mini-Goal Monday: I’m going to set small goals for myself each week, in hopes that I improve my healthy lifestyle gradually over time. I can do anything for one week, right? Right.

This week, I’m giving myself TWO mini-goals:

  1. Have a green smoothie for breakfast each morning.
  2. Run 6 days this week

These goals really aren’t too difficult for me, so I figured I could handle TWO of them this week…

However, the COLD mornings we’ve been having here lately really aren’t helping me want to chug down a cold smoothie!! But I did it– sludge-color and all:

Into this “monster” went 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup mixed berries, 2 clementines:

Along with two big handfuls of fresh spinach:

I like to top all of my smoothies off with a dash of cinnamon and dulse flakes, then blend until all the greens are broken down. This particular combo wasn’t my favorite, but I slurped down every drop! That’s a serious nutritional punch first thing in the morning. I’m full of energy now!

I’ve already got run #1 scheduled for this afternoon with my buddy, Heidi, so I know I’ll accomplish that goal for today, too. I think we’re going to earn some extra brownie points with a Jillian Michaels workout on top of that! Gotta burn off our Tofurkey dinner! :)

I’ll report back tonight with our workout recap and a fun HEALTHY dinner recipe!
