Happy Monday!
I’ve spent my morning looking for foot doctors in my area… but I’m not really that motivated to go to one yet. Everything I’ve read about my “top of foot pain” basically says the treatment is to stay off of it for 6 weeks. I don’t really want to pay for a doctor’s office visit just to be told the same thing! Or worse, pay for x-rays and THEN be told that! So for now, the plan is to stay off of it as best I can, ice it, and be patient. I’m going to try out a cycling class at my gym this afternoon, so hopefully that will keep me happy for the next 6 weeks! (I’m thinking MAYBE I could alternate with some elliptical workouts, too… since there’s no pounding of the feet involved in that either. But we’ll see how it goes…)
This morning I was NOT in the mood for green juice, so I decided to go with a more UltraMetabolism sort of breakfast. I had an organic Gala apple and a scoop of almond butter, sprinkled with cinnamon:

My cute puppy, Yasha, was patiently waiting for me to drop some apple on the floor. She is SO funny– the second she hears me cut a piece of fruit, she bolts into the kitchen! She LOVES it! (Watermelon is her favorite. She even knows which knife I use to cut melons, and gets excited simply by seeing me pull that knife out! Isn’t that crazy?) She’s also very good at eating her leafy greens. What a health nut!

My cinnamon apple was incredibly satisfying– a perfect FALL breakfast! I know many of you may see this as more of a “snack” than a meal… but I’m trying to teach myself to eat breakfast at all! I was in the very bad habit of skipping breakfast entirely, convincing myself throughout the morning that I could hold out to eat until lunchtime. I don’t think it’s a good idea to skip breakfast, so I am gradually teaching my body to eat earlier in the day again.
Also, you’ll notice that I’m NOT properly food combining here! (For those of you unfamiliar with food combining, it’s basically the idea that your body digests starches, proteins, nuts and fruits differently, so they should be eaten separately for the quickest and most efficient digestion.) I’ve decided to see how it goes for me without worrying about food combining this month. I have had some major issues with food restriction and binging, so I feel like the less I stress about food and how I’m combining it, the better. Many other health experts insist it is better to have protein, fat and carbs in each meal or snack we eat, in order to stabilize our blood sugar throughout the day. Dr. Hyman, author of UltraMetabolism, falls into this category. He has healed many sick, overweight people back to perfect health using his program, so I’m willing to give it a shot. So you’ll notice today that I’m following more UltraMetabolism prinicples…
I’m kicking myself because I forgot to get on the scale this morning before eating breakfast! I like to weigh myself first thing in the morning, so that I’m consistent, but I needed to replace the batteries in my scale this morning, and got side-tracked! I’m sure I won’t change THAT much by tomorrow morning…
Now, I’m sipping on a mug of decaf green tea in my festive snowman mug! I am counting down the days to hearing Christmas Music on the radio!! I’m hoping it happens this Friday. Yes, I’m a nerd and I LOVE Christmas music– I even have some on my iPod, and when it randomly pops up during a workout, I’ll listen to it, even if it’s July!

I’m off to get some work done!
