It’s that time of the year again, folks. The holidays are over, my birthday’s over, and now I’m out of excuses for why I can keep on splurging on sugary, fatty treats. Dang it!
I know that I’m not supposed to use holidays and birthdays as an excuse to splurge for a month and a half, but somehow, it always happens to me every year! I give in to one temptation, and end up over-indulging to the max– with tighter pants to boot!
What’s worse, now my body is used to junk food again, and that makes it all the more difficult to get back on the health wagon again.
But I know I can do it!
The hardest part is taking the first step. So today, I’m re-committing myself to the healthy lifestyle that I used to know and love, and I’m holding myself accountable by tracking my diet and exercise right here on my blog. I’ll be focusing on mostly plant-based, well-combined food, along with sensible exercise. To make it official, I even took a before picture and got on my body-fat scale to take all my measurements. I don’t plan on sharing those today, but perhaps I will share my progress after my marathon. Perhaps.
So to it start off, here’s a recap of my eats so far today:
One banana, straight-up, while I worked at my desk this morning…
And later, another banana, sliced and served in a bowl of almond milk and cinnamon! YUM.
I decided to do my training run before lunch. I ran/walked for 52 minutes, then immediately iced my feet to prevent any inflammation:
After my run, I dove into a bowl of mixed greens, topped with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh grapefruit juice:
This was SO simple, but SO good! Grapefruit juice is my new favorite salad topping of choice!
Followed by some Savory Veggie Quinoa:
Leftovers from my dinner the other night, plus a whole zucchini that I chopped, sauteed and added in for extra “heft.” I’ll post the recipe later, because this meal is just SO GOOD!! Quinoa is full of protein and essential amino acids, making it ideal for vegans and vegetarians!
Now, I’m sipping on some green tea and getting ready to run some errands! I’ll report back later on the rest of my day– I’m hoping to squeeze in another session with Yogalosophy and a yummy, healthy dinner!
Hope you all enjoy your Friday evening!!

Congratulations on the deicision! Plant based diet is the way to go. I was able to reverse almost all of my problems when I went vegan and then high raw vegan. Still working out some “blessings” of the BC, and I know that the diet and lifestyle will eventually help me deal with it once and for all. So, yeah for you and the new year!
That’s a neat trick, to soak your feet in ice to prevent inflammation – never done that before!
Best wishes to you for holding yourself accountable for your health – but at the same time, remember to take it easy – life is meant to be lived!
