A Sweet Challenge

Hi bloggy friends!

First, I want to address an issue that has recently been brought to my attention! Ever since I switched over to self-hosting for my blog, my new domain name hasn’t been updating in Google Reader! Ugh!! Fortunately, I figured it out:

Please update your Google Readers to:

Problem solved!! Thanks to all of you who let me know it wasn’t working. :)

Anyone else disappointed that The Biggest Loser isn’t on tonight?! So much for Treadmill Tuesday… :(   Instead, I’m going to be a lazy bum, switching back and forth between American Idol and the Olympics, and of course, I’m recording LOST! I have a feeling I could be sucked into a TV coma while the husband’s gone if I’m not careful! I swear I’ll be more productive tomorrow. I get one day of wallowing, right?

I’m also re-committing to the raw food challenge for Lent tomorrow! I should have known better than to try and do something drastic before my husband left– today was way too emotionally draining for me to be concerned with eating all raw. I didn’t even have any fresh groceries in my fridge! I have now remedied that situation, and I’m raring to go for tomorrow!

I’m even going to take it one step further… I’ll be joining Gina in committing to no sweets for Lent! As terrible as it sounds, I really loved how I felt when I gave up ALL sweets during the two months before my wedding.  After a while, your taste buds become more sensitive to the sweetness in other foods! Plus, I’m a big believer in going cold-turkey when it comes to giving up sugar. Did any of you see Dr. Oz on Oprah last week? He said sugar can be almost as addicting as cocaine! Yikes!

I will still be eating fruit (since they are a “whole food” and very healthy!) and I will most likely use a drop of stevia to sweeten my homemade salad dressings– because it helps me eat more salads! But other than for that purpose, I will be avoiding the use of pure maple syrup, agave nectar and stevia. No raw treats, not even Larabars. (unless I’m in a desperate situation– I always keep a Larabar in my purse, just in case!!) Let’s see if I can kick my sugar addiction!!

As I write this, I feel like stuffing a cookie into my face! Anyone having a “Last Supper” of sorts before giving something up tomorrow?

I really like the idea of adding the sweet-free challenge to my raw food challenge, because I remember reading an article saying the more things you try to change at once, the more likely you are to succeed at changing your habits! We’ll see how it goes, won’t we? ;)

Need another reason to re-think agave nectar? Check out this article!

Reader Feedback: Anyone else giving something up for Lent? Or, perhaps, adding something?
