Good evening! Hope you all have had a great Thursday!

So far, my new Detox 4 Women plan has gone great! I’m so happy eating this way– I feel much less restricted and totally content so far. Today’s lunch looked like this:

A full bag of mixed greens, one roasted beet, one avocado, chopped zucchini, snow peas and microgreens, all topped with honey balsamic dressing. This was a HUGE salad! My jaw actually started to get tired of chewing all those greens!

I also had a serving of blueberries both before AND after my workout today:

My workout, by the way, was a disaster! I went down to my gym to catch the hour-long episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which is typically one of my favorite shows to watch while working out. The murder investigations make time fly by! Today’s episode, however, was a nightmare! About half-way through the episode, the detective found another dead body, and noticed that the victim’s eye was swollen. He ended up using his finger to push on the eyeball, and a thick, black liquid goo started oozing out! All of the sudden, I got light-headed and nauseous from watching it! I changed the channel right as they were cutting open the victim’s skull and pulling out his black, gooey brain! Gross!!!!! That did me in. I felt so bad, that I just ended my workout early. I got in a good 40 minutes by that time, and that was just going to have to do. If I had stayed any longer, I’m pretty sure I would have fainted and knocked my head into a cardio machine. No thank you!

Fortunately, my day got better from there. ;)   My friend, Teija, also happens to be boyfriend-less this weekend, so she came over for a “girls night.” Misery loves company, right? I offered to make her dinner, so we had a “detox” lasagna:

Made with zucchini strips, roasted Kabocha squash, diced mushrooms, Paesana marinara, and fresh basil. I was nervous to make a super “healthy” dish for company, but it turned out great! I served it with a side of roasted broccoli, which is always a crowd-pleaser.

Here’s what my plate looked like:

I took the first lasagna serving, which is always a mess! Still tasted good, though. We both went back for seconds, which is always a good sign. :D

We also indulged in a bit of vino:

I rarely EVER drink, and in fact, I didn’t even finish half of this glass! But I love the taste of wine, and enjoyed a bit while cooking. I love drinking wine before I eat, but not with my meal or afterward. Guess I’m weird like that. This wine was a bottle of “Two-buck Chuck” from Trader Joe’s! Best deal ever! This wine did not taste like a $2 bottle…

Over dinner, we watched “What Happens In Vegas” on demand– I love that movie. It’s definitely on my “comfort movie” list. ;)   The plan was to watch Grey’s Anatomy, once we had built up enough slack to fast-forward through commercials, but I think we’re both exhausted now! I guess Grey’s will just have to wait until tomorrow…

Goodnight!

Your eats look FANTASTIC. Is the recipe for the lasagna in the Detox book? It’s funny, I like to sip on wine while I cook, but I can’t really drink it during or after food, because it tends to give me a bit of a burn in the chest.

And yeah.. that’s gross about CSI :)

Would you be able to post or email me that recipe?? That seriously looks so amazing. I normally stay away from lasagna because I’m not a huge fan of pasta, but that seems right up my alley!

Dinner looks like it was fantastic and I’m glad you had a girls night! All us females need some quality bonding time and what better time to do it then when the boys are gone. ;)

I’m still thinking of doing a raw-like eating thing on Monday but I may be tailoring it a bit. Kind of like you’re doing, haha. I think to go all raw, even if it’s just for a little bit, you have to be in the right frame of mind and I’m not sure if I am at the moment.
