Un-sweet Wednesday

Happy “hump” day! :D

Being Day 1 of my Sweet-free Challenge, of course I woke up wanting cookies for breakfast! Go figure. ;)

Luckily, my sanity returned when I walked my dog and got some sunshine! Ahhh, the sun does wonders for me…  I immediately remembered how good it feels to take care of my body, and sipped on a cup of warm water with fresh lemon when I got back to my desk:

I can’t tell you guys how much this stuff helps my morning! I can feel the difference almost immediately after sipping it! If you’re interested, here are some of the benefits of adding lemon water it to your daily routine. (I haven’t stopped drinking green tea, either– I just felt like the pictures might be getting redundant! I’ve been drinking one cup of green tea, after my lemon water, just so you know….) ;)

When I finally felt hungry, I made some green juice:

A head of Romaine, beet greens, 1/2 pound of carrots, 1/2 a fuji apple, 1 small lemon…

…and I got really brave:

A small piece of fresh ginger! I have a love/hate relationship with ginger. I love it in very small quantities. I absolutely HATE it if I eat get too much of it! I’ve tried ginger in my juice before, and it was WAY too strong for me. But I decided to give it another shot. I was fully prepared to stick a straw in it and gulp it all down, regardless of how I liked the taste!

Surprisingly, I could barely taste the ginger! Perhaps I’ll try even a little more tomorrow? This wasn’t the best-tasting juice I’ve ever made… the beet greens have a strong flavor! Not a good juice combo for newbies. But it wasn’t the worst juice I’ve made either. (That prize goes to the first juice I ever made with ginger! YUCK!!) I drank it up and felt great! I love how my body is almost “buzzing” after drinking fresh juice!

My morning also included some skin brushing, with my Yerba Prima skin brush:

And since I don’t dry brush my face (ouch!), I felt like a little exfoliation was in order there, too:

My sweet sister-in-law gave me this scrub, and I love it! My face feels so soft and smooth after using it!

Now that I’m all exfoliated, and juice-filled, it feels like a good day. :)   I’ve got an hour-long training run in my future, so I’m going to look at the TV guide and see what show I can schedule my run around tonight. I really love finding hour-long shows, like CSI or Law & Order, because it makes time fly by!

I’ll be back later with a yummy dressing recipe!
