“Real” food

Hi friends! Looks like all of you are pretty unanimous on the idea of  breastmilk cheese– there is a certain “ick” factor there, huh? I don’t think I’d try it either!! :(

But it does make you think, why do we find drinking the milk of a cow or a goat so much more acceptable? After all, cow’s milk is meant for baby cows! Do we have any business drinking it? And those baby cows grow HUGE from drinking it! That being said, I have no intention of giving up my goat cheese anytime soon. I just love it too much! But it is funny how drinking milk from a goat seems somehow less-gross than drinking milk from a human– milk that I once drank naturally as a baby! Go figure.

Speaking of goat cheese, guess what we had for lunch?

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. ;)

I actually chop up the salad before sitting down to eat, so that I get a little bit of everything in each bite:

Mmm…. so good. I can’t believe how much I love salad right now. Maybe it’s the warmer weather?

I think it actually has more to do with this dressing!! :D

After work today, I was in desperate need of a nap. I’ve been staying up to work, so my sleep schedule is way off! I ended up napping for over 2 hours! I hate that, but my body must have needed it! I woke up feeling like a lazy bum. By the time I got up, I knew it was too late to talk my mom into going to the gym with me, so I resorted to some rebounding on my mini trampoline. I felt great afterward!

Then it was dinner time. My mom and I were both a bit grouchy from detoxing this week, so I figured it was time for a change. I think I have veggied-out my mom! We both decided some eggs for dinner would be a nice change of pace:

We each had 3 organic, cage-free eggs, scrambled with onion and mushrooms, and topped with an ounce of soft goat cheese. Yum!! The roasted broccoli on the side was the perfect “home fries” substitute. I think my mom was happy to have some “real” food, as she calls it. ;)

And, of course, after another rough day of detoxing, we indulged in some dark chocolate:

This stuff totally saves the day! You may have noticed that we’ve cut out most sugar this week– very little fruit and grains– so having a little bit of 72% dark chocolate at night makes this detox diet “doable.” I think I’d go crazy if I got too restricted!

Now that we’ve had some “real” food, and some dark chocolate, it’s all good again. Tomorrow may be another story, but we’ll face that one obstacle at a time. I’m not gonna lie– there were many weak moments today for the both of us, but we held strong! It’s tough breaking a sugar addiction!! But having a buddy to support you helps. :D

I’m off to bed! See you all tomorrow!
