Hi friends! Happy Tuesday!
Sorry I disappeared on you this weekend– we had a bit TOO much fun, and I’ve been exhausted ever since! My husband and I started off with a 10-mile run on Saturday morning, which really took it out of me! By the time we got home, we were covered in a layer of salt residue from sweating! It was really gross! But we had no problem getting that salt back into our system later in the day:
That’s a frozen Mango Margarita that I enjoyed at Chili’s.
We indulged in many more SPLURGES before the weekend was over, which has taken quite the toll on my body! I was left feeling bloated and lacking energy– not to mention how sore I still am from that run! (We tackled quite a few hills on Saturday, and I’m FEELING it!)
Fortunately, Natalia Rose happened to release her new E-book, The Rose Cleanse, this weekend, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I needed a little “boost” to get back on track, and Natalia Rose has never steered me wrong!

This book is free to Detox Community members (which I am) or it is $10 to download. Pretty reasonable, huh? I sat down and read the book yesterday, and feel ready to dive in today! Luckily, I have a bloggy-buddy doing this cleanse with me, so hopefully we’ll keep each other motivated and accountable!
The basic idea of this cleanse is to enjoy fresh vegetable juices until dinner– and at dinner you can enjoy a hearty, cleansing meal following Natalia’s guidelines. I think this cleanse sounds MUCH more appealing than an all-out juice fast, and more effective than an all-raw diet, which typically focuses on dense, nut-based meals. If you guys have been reading my blog for long, you know I’ve tried pretty much every sort of detox program on the planet, and I really do think this one sounds doable, and perhaps even enjoyable!
Please remember– it’s taken me YEARS to get to this point, and I certainly don’t expect anyone else to be jumping on this cleansing bandwagon. Like I’ve said before, even just switching from a diet of processed foods, over to a diet of whole, un-processed natural foods is an effective cleanse! It’s all about knowing where you are in life, and what you are ready to handle at the moment. If you’re looking for a good starting point in cleansing (since I know I have some recent new readers!), I really recommend reading Natalia Rose’s first book, The Raw Food Detox Diet. She’ll give you all the steps you need to achieve a glowing lifestyle!
To kick off my morning, I started with a cup of green tea:
My best friend got me a sample pack of Tazo teas for Christmas, and I’ve been slowly working my way through all the flavors! This Lotus green tea is definitely a favorite!
When my appetite showed up, it was time for my first vegetable juice:
Romaine, beet greens, dino kale, an organic fuji apple, and a large lemon. I processed them all through my Breville Juicer, and got a lovely green drink:
It was a little TOO lemony for my taste, but I sipped it all down and felt instantly energized!
And did you all notice I used one of my new glass straws?
I love these! For any of you who are interested in getting a set for yourself, the standard 9.5mm x 9″ straws are plenty LONG and WIDE for whatever you may need! Glass Dharma also makes a “smoothie” size straw, which is 12mm in diameter, but I think the standard size I ordered is more than wide enough for a smoothie from my Vita-Mix!
My husband even tried a new glass straw last night:
Yup, he stuck it in his McDonald’s cup.
His only complaint was that he was afraid he was going to hurt his teeth, because he’s a habitual straw-biter! Perhaps these glass straws will break him of that habit!
Alright, I’ve got to get back to work! In my future is a quick run, and perhaps another Physique 57 workout! I did the 30-minute Arms and Abs DVD yesterday, to let my poor leggies recover from that run, but I think today’s the day to push them again! I have a feeling I’ll be needing EXTRA juice to fuel that workout!!
Hope you all are having a great day!

Wow! 10 miles! I’ve never ran more than 4.13 miles… maybe I should get on that.
Good luck with the cleanse, I think it sounds good. Natalia sure knows her stuff!
Let’s get it girl!
I also love the lotus green tea. And your christmas mug
Good luck on the cleanse! I’m still motivated to do one myself but haven’t gotten around to it yet.. haha.
Ooh I didn’t know Natalia came out with a new cleanse, but thanks for the heads up!! Downloading as I type this…
I’m a little scared of the biting aspect of glass straws. I have a tendency to completely chew the tops of my straws to threads.
you are so lucky that you like vegetables so much and are so creative with putting them together into smoothies and meals. i don’t like too many veggies, so i can’t have the fun that you have.
