Hi friends! Happy Tuesday!!
Wow, I feel like I’ve been away from my computer for FOREVER! We’ve been internet-less in our new apartment since FRIDAY!! I have SO much catching up to do!
We had a CRAZY-busy weekend– not only did we MOVE to our new apartment, but my mother-in-law was in town for Mother’s Day, too! My husband and I hung out with her as much as possible, then stayed up late moving as many boxes and miscellaneous junk as we could to the new place– we figured, the more we could get done OURSELVES, the less $$$ we would waste on our movers doing it! We just saved the heavy-lifting for the professionals.
Our move went pretty smoothly, and I am SO glad we hired professional movers this time around. We still did a lot of the work ourselves, but seeing all of our furniture professionally wrapped and handled was such a relief! Hopefully we won’t have to move again for a while, but when we do, we’ll be hiring professionals again! IT WAS SO WORTH IT!
My arms and abs are still sore from lifting boxes, and my feet are aching from being on my feet all weekend long! Needless to say, we didn’t squeeze in ANY running over the past few days, but I still feel like my body got some endurance training.
I was feeling a bit sappy about leaving our old apartment, so I took some pictures to document the place we’ve called “home” for the last year. I figured this was a perfect time to participate in Jessica’s Blogland Cribs series!
So, without further ado, here’s a tour of my “crib:”
My AWESOME kitchen– complete brand-new stainless steel appliances. I’ve been SO spoiled with my gas stove! (previously, I had only experienced electric stoves and had no idea what I was missing!)
In the corner there, you can see my Vita-Mix and Breville Juicer– the two appliances I use more than anything else!
To the right of my kitchen, is my built-in office:
This is where I spend most of my weekdays, working from home! I love how the wall is cut out, looking into our sunny dining room– so I’m not staring at a WALL all day while I work! I also keep Yasha’s bed next to my desk, so that I’ll have company during the day. She’s a really sweet co-worker.
Moving into our living room…
(Yasha likes to sneak into pictures)
And dining room…
Yep, that’s a HUGE “Where the Wild Things Are” poster– the size that they hang at bus stops! We’ve also started a collection of vintage Disneyland posters– our most recent addition is that Monorail one. ![]()
Here’s another view of our overall living space:
And a peek at our bedroom:
Yasha has her own stairs so she can get up on our bed– I don’t want her hurting her hips from jumping on and off of it! She spends a lot of time on our bed during the day… obviously, she’s got a rough life.
One of my FAVORITE things about our old apartment is the bathroom:
“His & Her” sinks!! My husband and I already miss having our own sinks in the bathroom… but we will adjust. We just have to remember all the money we are saving!
Well, that’s about it for the tour! That apartment is now a total mess that I need to clean, so I can turn in our keys by Friday! I’m going to be one busy bee!!

I’ve also still got LOTS to do in the new place to make it feel like “home,” but hopefully we’ll be settled in soon, and I can share pictures of our new CRIB with you all!
Hope you’re all having a great week so far!

I have got to get stairs for our bed too, my little munchies have to be air lifted right now, and it’s a little annoying at times!

That is definitely a pretty sweet apartment!! Always good when you can cut back and save a little money though without giving up too much on comfort. Glad to hear the move went well – hiring movers may be expensive, but it is certainly worth it!
