Rest Day

Hi friends! Happy Monday!

After my hamstring fiasco during my long run yesterday, I’ve decided that I need to take today as a TOTAL rest day– whether I like it or not! I actually HATE taking rest days, because it makes me feel like a lazy bum! I considered doing a Physique 57 DVD, even just the Arm & Ab workout, but it still includes some leg work, and I think I just really need to take it easy if I want my leg to heal as quickly as possible! Grrr…. :(

I pretty much felt like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed all morning, so I decided to take a cue from Yasha…

…and took a nap over my lunch break. There’s something about a mid-day nap that can totally turn my day around! :D

I wasn’t feeling like juice when I woke up, so I opted for a green smoothie instead:

Half a bag of spinach, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, juice of a whole lemon, 2 frozen bananas, 2 T. Sun Warrior protein, and 1/2 tsp. Spirulina. I’m hoping all the potassium in the bananas is going to help my muscle heal faster!!

I’ve also been enjoying a mug of Natural Calm daily, which is supposed to balance my magnesium and calcium levels:

Since I don’t have a workout scheduled for the day, I think I’ll be keeping myself busy cleaning our apartment! There’s TONS to do while we prepare to move next weekend, so I don’t think I’ll miss exercise too much today… but we’ll see how tomorrow goes! I’m really torn on whether to take the WHOLE week off from running, or if I should try to work the muscle a bit. Guess I’ll just play it by ear, and be careful for a while!

    What a cute pup!! Awwww

    Isn’t it funny how our bodies tell us what we want. I wake up and don’t feel like my smoothie, so I opt for fruit or quinoa. I need to try sun warrior! I always use vega and want to mix it up a bit!

    I love days that are spent doing things around home. Being able to be home all day is so wonderful! Do you work from home everyday?

    PS I am looking at juicers!!! YEah ;)

    I took an afternoon nap today as well that made me feel so much better too :) I usually don’t like naps but this one was very needed.

    I took a rest day yesterday too and had to occupy myself with stuff around the apt to keep myself occupied. I feel like I don’t know what to do with myself during the time between leaving work and having dinner when I skip my usual workouts.

    i can totally relate to hating rest days! hopefully you ended up being productive as planned.

    hey, physique 57 question for you… the ball that comes with… is that a standard stability ball or is it a medicine ball?

    Rest days sometimes make me feel anxious- but I think that a midday nap is totally necessary every so often :)

    I just took a nap today and it was fabulous. Although it felt like my energy levels were pretty steady I was suddenly hit with extreme fatigue by about 2pm and I had to take a nap.. I’m not complaining though because now I’m back on track. :)

    Rest days bother me too so I hope your leg gets better quickly. That’s such a pain and so random.. hopefully a day or two of complete rest will speed up the healing.

    Can you talk a little more about your detox? How was your energy levels and what would you do when you got hungry during the day? Esp. since you were exercising. Also, do you think it’s worth it to join Natalia’s community?
