An OFF day

Hi friends! Happy almost-Friday!! :D   How’s your day going so far?

Yesterday, I woke up feeling a bit “off”– not necessarily sick, though some “female pains” weren’t helping matters… I think I was exhausted from our late night, kinda bloated, and all around feeling “blah.” You know those kind of days? My appetite was WAY off, too! I didn’t want any food! (those of you who know me well, know that’s NOT like me– I REALLY enjoy eating food!!) ;)   I decided to just go with it until the mood to eat struck me, which ended up happening mid-afternoon…

And all I wanted was a MONSTER salad:

A whole bag of organic mixed greens, chopped red pepper, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber, topped with my Lemon-Oregano Vinaigrette. This totally hit the spot!

It also seemed to “wake up” my appetite– which quickly asked for “cheesecake pudding, please!!” (or maybe it was just my brain asking…) ;)

I might have *shed a tear* as I finished off the last of my cheesecake pudding– but since so many of you have been asking for my recipe, maybe I should make another batch and do a little “how-to” on the blog? I think that sounds like a reasonable excuse to make more!!! :D

The mail man must have known I was having an rough day, because he visited me multiple times yesterday!

First with a package for Yasha:

(she instantly knows when it’s a package for her, and stalks it!!)  Turns out it was the Holistic Select Dog Food we WON in Caitlin’s raffle last month! I’m always on the lookout for healthier, allergen-free food for my dog, so I’m really excited to see how this food works out for my pup! Thanks again to Caitlin and Holistic Select for letting us try a bag! I’ll keep you guys updated once we try it!

The other package I got in the mail was smaller, but packs a punch. ;)

I have an Amazon shopping problem… there, I admitted it.

I just love Jillian’s workout DVD’s, and this was ONLY $8.99– how could I resist? Plus, after reading the reviews, this sounded like a nice change of pace compared to her No More Trouble Zones DVD! In Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism (ha, I just wrote Boost Fat, Banish Metabolism– sounds like the Supersize Me diet!) ;)   you do seven 6-minute circuits of weight-free moves!

I jumped right into the new DVD, and was pretty impressed– she has you do a variety of kickboxing moves, plyometrics, squats, planks, etc. I would say it kinda reminds me of an Insanity workout, but with slightly less intensity, because Jillian knows when to give you adequate rest. Just when I thought I was going to DIE from doing jump squats, the next move was a bit of a recovery for my legs… thank goodness! I actually can’t give a full review of the DVD yet, because my body just wasn’t feeling very good! By the time we got to mountain climbers:

I was done. Like I said, my body was feeling “off” yesterday, and I wasn’t about to push myself too hard in that condition… but I still broke a nice sweat after 20-ish minutes! I think I’ll try this DVD again tomorrow, and hopefully I’ll make it all the way through this time!

When my husband came home from work last night, the last thing I wanted to do was make dinner– so I offered to take him out! (I didn’t have to twist his arm…) ;)

I enjoyed a lovely salad– topped with “herbed goat cheese rounds!” I only ate two of the three goat cheese rounds, because that seemed like a LOT of goat cheese for one salad! The two rounds were the perfect amount for me– and I finished every bite!

On our way home, the husband was tempted by the Gelato shop we walked by:

Blast you gelato shop!! Why do you have to be so darn convenient?!

After trying a sample, the husband decided on a “bambino” sized cone of Peanut Butter Chocolate:

…I was boring, and didn’t get anything– my stomach was already feeling weird, and I didn’t want to make it worse! Plus, I knew I had this waiting at home for me:

My absolute favorite kind of dark chocolate from Trader Joe’s! This chocolate is smooth and rich– I enjoyed two pieces while watching Work of Art and Top Chef last night! (ha ha, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses the term “deconstructed” now thanks to Top Chef!!) :D

I’ve got bunches of work to get done, but I’ll be back later with a SWEET recipe for you guys!

Hey! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I love yours too. You seem so fun and spunky…which I looovvveee. :D

I hope you are feeling better. You still look like you had a great day despite not feeling quite normal. Some yummy eats and a great new workout. I’ve actually never tried one of Jillian’s DVDs. I need to add it to my list of at home workouts to try post baby.

oh, i hate it when my body feels ‘off’ (which is actually today)…but isn’t it great how 20 minutes can make you feel so much better? i know i’m working out when i get home, and i really can’t wait to just relax and spend some me time!

LOL @ your dog. That is adorable! I hope you enjoy your DVD. I have the Shred but I haven’t figured out how to enjoy it and not hate Jillian yet. :)

Cheesecake pudding and gelato in one post… this is so tempting! I wish I had some of the stuff. :D

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog about eating what you like instead of following anyone or anything else. I completely agree with you. :)

I’m liking your blog so far and will be following!

Yes please show a how-to for that cheesecake pudding. Wait, don’t post it. Because once I make it, I will never stop eating it. I love BFBM (and I switch up the Boost/Banish all the time too) — such a great workout!

OMG, I’m such a Bravo whore! I’m a chef so obviously I LOVE top chef! I even WAS on a Bravo show a few months back (maybe you saw it, Millionaire Matchmaker).
That pudding looks SO good. I make something similar with silken tofu. Which gelato shop is that? I live in LA so I MUST find it!
