Happy Hump Day!!
Where has this week gone? My husband coming home on Monday has really thrown me for a loop– I feel like it’s still Tuesday! Not that I’m complaining… the weekend can never get here fast enough, if you ask me!
This morning, I decided to get back to the basics with my green juice. No cucumbers. No carrots. No funny stuff. I’m not risking another poisoned juice for a while!
Romaine. Kale. Beet. Apple. Lemon. My favorite juice combo of all time! And it never fails-
It tasted PERFECT!! Ahhh… so much better.
Lunch today was another simple favorite of mine:
A giant salad featuring mixed greens, red peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and shredded raw goat cheddar. Cherry tomatoes and cucumbers are definitely my favorite salad toppings at the moment! They must be in season right now, because they taste SOOOO good!
I also tried my hand at another homemade Lemon-vinaigrette this afternoon!
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 1/2 lemons)
2 T. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. Dijon mustard (Plochman’s is my fave!)
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Combine everything but the olive oil in a mini-food processor until thoroughly combined, then add in olive oil and blend until emulsified.
This dressing is so refreshing with all the summer veggies available right now! I hope you try it!!
This afternoon, I had some goat’s milk yogurt as a little treat:
Even though I’ve been LOVING my raw food lately, I think it’s a really good idea to keep some things non-raw (like that yogurt) in your diet. Jumping into an all-raw diet can be really taxing on your body– and you might not get all the benefits you’re looking for by being so strict! Eating some cooked foods slows down your detox, so you can process everything you’re stirring up. Your body can only detox so much at one time, so if you’re cleansing more than your body can get rid of, you’re just risking those toxins being released back into your body all over again! So, please, be smart with raw food! Natalia Rose calls this “Intelligent Cleansing” when you eat easy-to-digest meals (by properly food combining), and focus enough on elimination of toxins (through skin brushing, sweating, and colonics)– because you only truly detox when you RELEASE the toxins!
Hence, I made a colonic appointment for Friday. I haven’t seen a colon hydrotherapist since before my wedding, so I’m really excited to try it again! Even though I’ve tried colon hydrotherapy before, I haven’t given it a “real shot” yet– as in, I haven’t followed the advice to try an initial series of 3 colonics close together. Supposedly, starting off with a series of colonics, 2-3 days apart from each other, is the ideal way to kick-off your cleansing, then you can maintain with follow-up with visits once a month. I think I’m going to give it a shot this time!
This colonic appointment means I need to get back to driving on the highway again– and I’m a little nervous after Monday’s anxiety attack! Luckily, my new book came in the mail today:
I’m really looking forward to diving into it! In the meantime, I’ve been taking Natural Calm and 5-HTP daily, and I’ve been feeling really good!
Alright, here’s what I’ve got planned for the rest of the day:
Trip to the gym– treadmill workout & steam sauana
Whole Foods (I need more of those cherry tomatoes!!)
Top Chef and Work of Art are on tonight! Woo-hoo! (anyone else LOVE Work of Art like I do??)
Hope you all have a great night!!

I just don’t think I could ever do a high-raw diet. My body craves carbs and protein like its none other. For some reason if I have a ton of raw veggies, my stomach gets pretty irritated.
I could really use that book! Let me know how you like it. What are the noted benefits of 5-HTP?
Whoa, you are one healthy girl! I don’t think I could go raw, but good for you for trying it. And I’m so bummed that I missed Top Chef! Do you have any favorites so far? I don’t really…which is unusual for me.
I agree with having a mix of raw and non-raw, we learned the hard way.
The juice looks great!!
I love Top Chef! I like Kevin, Kelly and I liked Kenny for a while, but he’s almost as egotistical as Angelo! I have been watching Work of Art too, but I missed last night. I like Miles, Abdi and Nicole.
I will be checking out that book: Natural Relief, I too deal with anxiety and I love reading about natural remedies!
