Hi friends! Happy Sunday!!!
I finally got some much-needed sleep yesterday– in fact, I slept in until 11am! It was glorious, but then I basically ran around like a chicken-with-my-head-cut-off for the rest of the day, trying to get everything done before my flight today! I quickly headed out to the mall to beat the Saturday-shopping-rush, and picked up some last-minute makeup essentials for the wedding next weekend:
I heart Bobbi Brown makeup.
I’ve heard that Bobbi Brown’s foundation is GREAT for photos, because it doesn’t contain SPF– which can make your skin look pale with flash photography. I wore it for my wedding photos last year, and was very happy with the results! I also picked up a pretty neutral lipstick, and a pair of MAC eyelashes (another fave of mine). When I get “gussied up” I usually prefer to play up my eyes, then keep the rest of my face pretty neutral.
When I was done at the mall, a green smoothie was calling my name:
The usual combo–> a bag of organic spinach, a frozen banana, juice of 1/2 a lemon, 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 tsp. spirulina, and a hefty dash of cinnamon.
It was perfect fuel for laying out by the pool.
I even had the genius idea of placing these on my eyes during my sun sesh:
I cut these cucumber slices extra-thick, to protect my eyes from the sun, and they were ice-cold from sitting in my fridge– a great way to beat the heat!!
Lunch was a simple salad:
I really loved how simple and refreshing this salad was–> just mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and “Liquid Gold” dressing (recipe from The Raw Food Detox Diet). I actually stored the rest of my dressing in the freezer, since I’m going to be out of town, and I’m hoping it will thaw nicely when I get home! *crossing my fingers*
Cherry Chocolate Bomb Pudding followed… (of course!)
Good news–> The paper bag ripening trick totally worked!
My avocado was perfectly ripe this afternoon!
Whew! I don’t know WHAT I would have done without my pudding… if you guys haven’t noticed, I’m kinda addicted.
Once I was pleasantly pudding-filled, I found some energy for a Physique 57 workout:
(a sneak peek at my “ballet barre”)
My thighs were shaking like crazy!! I especially love the 57-minute Full Body workout for the all of the back exercises towards the end… my back definitely feels WORKED today!
The rest of my day is almost a blur… I turned into a PACKING TORNADO!!
I ended up packing THREE BAGS for this week-long trip… yikes!! When you’ve got WORK and a WEDDING to pack for, there’s a LOT to remember!!
I also whipped up a batch of “thank you” macaroons for our house-sitter:
…and may have licked the bowl as a pre-dinner treat.
Dinner last night was a “cleaning out the fridge” kinda meal:
This salad used up the rest of my mixed greens, tomatoes and goat cheese…
And I scrambled up a few of my remaining organic eggs as well:
I forgot how much I love scrambled eggs! It was a very comforting dinner.
I also had to give my little girl a haircut before I left town: (while playing catch-up with a Project Runway marathon on my DVR…)
She was SO HAPPY when it was OVER!!! It was all I could do to keep her from jumping off the counter– she really HATES haircuts.
But she’s just so darn cute when she gets groomed! (especially when I am the groomer and do a “choppy” job at best– she looks like a pathetic little homeless dog… in a cute way) Ha ha.
I also had a BRIBE good and ready for her when it was all over:
I saw this stuffing-free toy at Target, and couldn’t resist. Yasha is TERRIBLE with stuffing-filled toys (the stuffing is quickly all over my living room), so this was a great alternative! And Yasha approved!
Okay, I am on my way to Kansas and plan on hanging out with my mom for the rest of the night! Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
