Hi friends! Happy Hump Day!
**Keep those entries and votes coming for my Almond Breeze Giveaway!
I loved hearing all of your thoughts on workout motivation– it sounds like a lot of you do the 10 minute trick, too, or just simply go for a walk to get your body moving! I also love the idea of visualizing how you will feel AFTER you’re done! I know I always feel GREAT when I’m finished with a workout, no matter how crappy I felt before I started! However you motivate yourself, I think as soon as you get your body moving, you will naturally get into the flow again! A body in motion tends to stay in motion, right?
I think that saying could apply to healthy diet, too! I know when I’m eating plenty of fruits and veggies, my body tends to crave them more! (and unfortunately the same goes in the other direction– as soon as I start splurging on junk food and sweets, I tend to crave that, too!)
So, like I mentioned yesterday, as soon as I got a nice run under my belt, I actually felt like working out more! I was really craving a strength workout, but I was short on time since my husband got off work early… so I ended up only squeezing in a quick rebounding workout instead! Boy, do I love bouncing! I’ve noticed my body is getting better at it, too, because 20 minutes is really starting to fly by now! (when I originally got my rebounder, 5-10 minutes was really difficult for me!) I love noticing progress like that.
When my husband got home, he twisted my arm into going to Granville again for dinner! We ate the EXACT same meal as the other night… what can I say? We’re creatures of habit! After dinner, we walked around the mall, and were quickly exhausted– we ended up falling asleep on the couch watching a movie we rented from Netflix– so now we’re going to have to spend another night trying to watch it! It’s really good, so far! It’s an older movie, called Lady in White. Anyone else seen it? It’s set during Halloween in the 80′s, so I loved that! There’s something about Halloween and Christmas movies that are very comforting to me.
This morning, I decided I wasn’t going to risk having another bad-tasting juice for the third-day-in-a-row! (yesterday’s juice was just TOO gross!) Ick.
So instead, I opted to throw my romaine into the ol’ Vita-Mix:
Normally, I prefer fresh spinach as my “green of choice” in smoothies (because it really blends in and you can’t taste it!), but I know it’s better for me to eat a variety of greens– so I think I’m going to challenge myself to NOT use spinach in at least one of my smoothies each day!
Not bad! In fact, this romaine-smoothie tasted pretty good!
Today’s combo: a head of romaine, juice of 1/2 a lemon, 2/3 cup water, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 tsp. spirulina, 3 drops liquid stevia, and a heavy dash of cinnamon. In my opinion, citrus juice + cinnamon can mask the flavor of almost any green! I guess we’ll see if that holds true, as I start trying new greens in my smoothies!
For those of you green-smoothie-drinkers out there, what are YOUR favorite greens?? I’m open to suggestions!!
After my smoothie, I finally got the strength workout that I was craving yesterday!
For some reason, these workouts totally got away from me during my half-marathon training– I totally forgot them! I don’t know WHY I let so much time pass, because I truly LOVE this workout! I decided to jump in full-force with the Classic 57-minute Full Body Workout this morning. Why? Because I apparently like to feel my thighs BURN!! Seriously, in no time my thighs, butt and abs were on FIRE!!!! As Tanya Becker says, “It’s a party– for your THIGHS!”
I love Tanya Becker’s feisty personality as she tortures works your body until it is literally SHAKING!! My legs are currently JELLO… but in a good way.
Alright, I think I’m going to hobble off to the pool a little later for my daily dose of Vitamin D, and then maybe I’ll be able to manage a run this afternoon! Perhaps Physique 57 BEFORE running was a poor decision on my part… ha ha.
Reader Feedback: What’s your favorite workout video? You guys know I love my Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner workouts, but Physique 57 is a unique workout that keeps it fun and fresh for me! I need LOTS of variety to keep myself from getting bored!!

My favorite workout video is either my P90X videos or my kettlebell video. Both get my heart rate up and muscles burnin like no other!!
I too love Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner. Did you know that Jillian is part owner of Jackie’s gym? I thought that was really interesting. But right now my fave workout dvd is TurboFire
I’ve heard of that Physique 57 — I’d love to give it a try.
Gosh, I still want to try Physique 57!!
We put all types of greens in our smoothies…whatever we got on hand. Variety is so important!!!
And thank you for your comment on our blog…we sound like we have similar issues ; )
O god, I’m a splenda whore! i know, its awful but I’m cutting back, stevia is just so expensive and I can steal splenda from any coffee shop! LOL! I think you’ve convinced me i need a vita mix! where did you get yours! I remember you told me at the meet up but i cant remember! was it a good price?
I always think it’s funny when the people on workout videos try to make the workout sound cute and fun – I think that, “party for your thighs” tops the charts. I am SUCH a baby when I do a workout video that makes my butt and thighs hurt. Ry and I tried one once and we were face down on the floor after 5 minutes
I’m glad you are good at these videos, because I sure as heck am NOT!! I do like the Exercise in demand channel, though. That’s my only saving grace during holiday season.
:)
I went to Granville once…the location at the Americana and it was delicious!
I really wanted to like Stevia but it didn’t like me! So I stick with maple syrup for the most part. I love it!
I love Lady in White! We used to watch it every year for Halloween growing up! Oh the memories!
I like the Tracy Anderson Method workouts.
Here are five 10 minute workouts I found on the Clean Program website:

i’m a real exercise vid addict – i have a longstanding loveaffair with jane fonda’s original 1982 workout (too sad?) – but as i’m living alone most of the time right now, i’m trying to cut down and get out of the house as much as possible in case i become a hermit! physique 57 is going on my “to try” list tho – i need some new instructors to curse at as i work out
loving your discussion on motivation ideas – the visualisation and 10min tips are totally in tune with my (less positive) rant on my blog just a couple of days ago. i only just found your blog, but will definitely be checking back here more often
I love Chalene’s Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire…she just has so much energy and lots of cheesy lines that my sister and I love to recite during the workout. Definitely gets your mind off of the burn! Right now I’m in the middle of Insanity, which I love (after the workout) and hate (during the workout)!
I was looking into getting the Physique 57 after reading your older posts. On their website, they have a 30-day free trial, then if you haven’t returned it after 30 days, they charge you $49.95. I was just wondering if there were any additional charges after that. I’m always weary of the trial-based purchases and how they might keep charging me several times!
I LOVE Cathe Friedriche’s DVDs. A few years ago I got the Fitness Channel and they would show her every day at ten am, and I got hooked! I no longer get that channel, but I own quite a few of her DVDs, she’s great for strength, step, and kickboxing. She’s great for everything, actually. I do have 30 Day Shred, which I like to do to mix it up, and I keep hearing about Jackie Warner, so I think I need to check it out!
I’ve always heard great things about Physique 57 but never tried them. Sounds tough though.
And I’m such a creature of habit too. It makes life easier for me, but I know it’s not the best to do.
