Hi friends! Happy FRIDAY!!!!
This is a BIG weekend for us–> two of our best friends, Heidi and Zeb, are getting MARRIED!!!!! Woo-hoo!
Their rehearsal dinner tonight was at Lidia’s, which I had heard is one of the BEST Italian restaurants in Kansas City! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint…
Our tables were set up with homemade breads and hummus for dipping:
(I didn’t try either, since wheat bread tends to upset my stomach… and I wasn’t about to dig into the hummus with just a spoon! Even though at home, that wouldn’t be too unusual for me…
)
Caesar salads soon followed:
(I always pick out the croutons!) For some reason, I’ve never liked croutons on salads… and these particular croutons were more like HUGE crackers! The dressing, though, was really tasty and unique! It actually reminded me of a raw Caesar dressing I once made… perhaps I need to revisit that recipe when I get home!
Next dish, freshly made ravioli with heirloom tomatoes:
I think this may be the first time I’ve ever had homemade FRESH pasta! It was deeeeee-lish! I was a little afraid that the pasta might upset my stomach, and considered skipping this course for about two seconds… then I figured, how often do I EVER get eat food like this?? (this restaurant is definitely NOT in our budget!) For special occasions like tonight, I decided it was totally worth the risk!
And… *knock on wood* so far I’m feeling OKAY…. *knock on wood* (again, just for good measure!!)
I also decided NOT to worry about the lady fingers in THIS, either:
Holy YUM. I freakin’ love Tiramisu. I ate this WHOLE portion, no problem! Definitely an indulgence, but again–> totally worth every. bite.
You know what I was thinking after I ate it? I wonder if I could make a Tiramisu-flavored avocado pudding…. “Tirami-cado pudding?” “Avo-misu?” The wheels in my head are spinning…
I had a pretty cute date for the evening, too:
Okay, we’ve got a BIG DAY tomorrow!! I better get some sleep!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Megan that food looks awesome! I have never tried homemade pasta either, but I’ve heard it is the best. Favorite indulgence? Carrot cake or a big piece of cherry pie.
My favorite indulgence is definitely the buffet at my favorite indian restaurant. Generally I stay clear of buffets to avoid needlessly overstuffing myself, but once in awhile, it’s necessary
mmmm cake or any other kind of dessert is always a big indulgence for me
My favorite indulgence is definitely nanaimo bars. Now that would be a fun recipe to make raw.
