This’ll fix it

Good evening! :D How’s your day been?

Mine’s been pretty good– I finally just accepted the fact that my stomach was having an “off” day today. After my smoothie lunch, I really didn’t feel so hot! I was uncomfortably full, and quite sleepy– as if I had just eaten a turkey dinner or something! I tried to walk it off by running errands this afternoon, making a trip to Old Navy and Trader Joe’s. But really, it didn’t help. I felt worn out!

So, I decided to listen to my body… and took a late-afternoon nap! Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good nap to fix things. ;)

When I woke up, I felt much better! So good, in fact, that I felt like squeezing in a quick workout– Jillian’s Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism DVD:

I made it through 5 circuits this time! (last time, I only did 3– so that’s progress!) This workout is not for the faint of heart… and I didn’t want to push myself too hard, since I’ve had such a weird day! But I will say, sweating made me feel better!

Dinner made me feel better, too. :)

I dusted off an old friend tonight:

I love my Salad Shooter! And I totally don’t use it enough… I had some carrots that I needed to use up (I originally bought them for juicing, but decided that I don’t care for carrots in my juice!), so I shredded them for a marinated salad instead:

I grated 3 large carrots, and coated them in 2 T. of my Lemon-Oregano Vinaigrette:

I covered this bowl with a lid, shook well to coat, and let them marinate in the fridge for 20 minutes.

I served my marinated carrots over a small bed of mixed greens– then proceeded to chop the heck out of it, until well mixed!

Ahhh, much better. ;) I always chop my salads into teeny-tiny bits before eating! This salad would have been GREAT topped with a handful of raisins and walnuts, too! I was scared that the dressing might not be a good mix, but the natural sweetness of the carrots really came through and made it quite refreshing!

And since I had a fairly “light” dinner, I figured dessert could be a little more DECADENT tonight…

I melted a square of 70% dark chocolate…

…and proceeded to drizzle it over my Pecan Pie Babies. Holy indulgence!!! Chocolate Pecan Pie, anyone?? This may be one of the BEST, most decadent ideas I’ve ever had– and I enjoyed every bite!!

Chocolate fixes everything. :D

Hopefully tomorrow my stomach will be back on track! As you guys all know by now, I love EATING!! (and I am NOT a happy camper when my tummy doesn’t comply…)

(Hear that, tummy?? Get your act together!!)

I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a MUCH better day– I’ve got a massage scheduled for tomorrow afternoon! Woo-hoo!!

Hope you all have a great night!

Reader Feedback: Do you ever get professional massages or facials? I usually don’t have the money to splurge on them very often, but my gym’s spa was have a great SALE this week that I couldn’t pass up! Plus, I think getting a massage is SO GOOD FOR YOU! Some noted benefits of massage therapy include:

  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.
