Hey there! Happy Tuesday!! (Does it still feel like Monday to those of you just getting back to work??) I love short work-weeks!!
And mine’s going to be extra-short, since I’m still here in Vegas with my family!
My brother and dad actually both had to work for part of the morning, so my mom and I headed out to “the Strip” early to do a little sight-seeing on our own!
Our first stop was M&M World:
(well, I guess technically we stopped at Starbucks first… I got a tall black coffee.
)
Check out this sign–> made out of M&M’s, of course!
There certainly was no lack of candy in this place…
…but we managed to make it out of there with minimal damage.

Afterward, we wandered into the MGM Grand Casino, and were totally taken by their one-of-a-kind Lion Habitat!
I want one.
Once we finally pulled ourselves away from the cute lions, we enjoyed some more AMAZING scenery!

(I’m dying to visit New York again, and this little “mock-up” only made it worse!!) I love hearing all your vacation stories, by the way! It sounds like you all have had some really great trips, and you’re giving me ideas for future vacations!! Keep those macaroon entries coming!!
I think my BEST vacation ever was the trip my husband took me on almost two years ago to New York–> when he surprised me and proposed!! He totally pulled off a “master plan” and got me to New York in December, without me suspecting a thing! (He acted like he was letting me “tag along” on his work trip!) Seriously, I was in total shock. But it was the best weekend of my life, for sure!!
I miss Paris, too! *sigh* For those of you who don’t know, my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Paris last year… and I want to go back! But, that won’t be happening ANY time soon (not with our budget!!), so this is as close as I’m gonna get for a while!
But, who needs to go to all those places when you can just get it all right here in Vegas, right?!
Later in the afternoon, my dad joined us for lunch, and I knew EXACTLY where I wanted to go!
Serendipity 3!! (my husband and I are kinda obsessed with this place in New York– we may have gone there twice in one day during our last New York trip– so you can imagine my excitement when I learned there was a second location in Las Vegas!) Luckily for me, my parents were happy to try it!
I love the cute, funky vibe of this place. It’s much more spread-out and open than the New York location, and our wait was MUCH shorter! (probably helps that it was a Tuesday afternoon…) This location also offers a “take out” window, with a variety of different menu options from the dine-in experience–> kinda makes me want to go back and try something exclusively from the take-out menu next time!
The three of us shared a small appetizer as “lunch,” saving room for the good stuff:
No, I didn’t eat two desserts by myself.
But, we did manage to make a good dent in those guys between the three of us! We shared a Mochaccino Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (we ordered the “for one” size, and look how big it is!) and a Hot Fudge Sundae. Holy indulgence!
It’s so much fun being on vacation with my mom and dad!
They’re still a couple of love birds.
(High school sweethearts!)
Blogger confession: I feel kinda guilty when I post highly-indulgent treats like this on my blog–> especially two weekends in a row!! With last weekend’s wedding, and this weekend’s vacation, my eats have been totally out-of-whack and not like my normal routine at all. Sometimes I feel like it’s my duty to set a “healthy example” on this blog, and I feel like I’m letting you guys down when I’m not the role model of “perfect” eating. However, this is real life and I’m not a perfect eater all the time. In fact, I’m pretty happy if I eat healthy 90% of the time! And I’m certainly not going to stress out about my diet while I should be enjoying this RARE time with my family!! (we happen to live in 3 different states, and haven’t gone on a real “vacation” together since I was about 12 years old!) So when I say this is rare, I’m not kidding! I’m having a ball, and don’t regret ANY of my splurges for one minute. I’ll go right back to my normal eating habits when I get home, and am not going to stress about these extra calories, since it’s NOT the norm for me. That’s the healthy mentality that I have been striving for, so I hope that it still shines through on this blog–> even when I am on vacation and splurging!
I’m not gonna lie– there’s probably going to be more indulging tomorrow! But I’ll be back to my own kitchen and my normal routine on Thursday, and you’ll be seeing plenty of raw meals again, and perhaps some cooked ones as well if the weather starts cooling off! I can’t wait to start enjoying some fall meals!!

Reader Feedback: If you have a healthy living blog, how do you feel about sharing your decadent splurges with readers? Do you ever feel guilty? For you readers out there, do you enjoy reading about other people’s vacations and decadent meals out? Or would you rather avoid seeing that kinda stuff? I know I started reading healthy living blogs for healthy-meal-inspiration, so I’m not sure how I feel about sharing pictures of decadent desserts… I know I personally don’t like to see that stuff at 8 a.m. when I’m just waking up, and feeling vulnerable before breakfast! Mornings are usually the hardest time for me when it comes to food temptation (so, I’ve actually learned to save blog-reading until AFTER I’ve had something to eat!). But, I also don’t want to come off as a “perfect” eater ALL the time, when I’m not– I don’t think it’s fair to my readers! So, I hope I haven’t alienated any of you with my decadent sundaes, wedding cake, and frrrozen hot chocolates!

I think that part of being a healthy living blogger is being someone is who balanced so I fully support sharing the indulgances from time to time. You are enjoying life and sometimes that means a chocolate sundae thrown into the mix!! And I don’t think I would relate to someone who was a meticulous eater 100% of the time. Its not realistic and its so boring!!
Good for you for enjoying yourself!!
I don’t feel guilty, because it shows that I am REAL! These blogs out there that have only pictures of fruits and vegies drive me insane. How can you not eat candy? Or chocolate?? I think showing our indulgences makes our healthy lifestyle MORE realistic. And if we want to set a positive example, we need to be able to show others that we still enjoy the occasional treat. Who wants to follow a blog that never has any indulgences? That person would make me feel like a total failure every time I took a bite of cake! Indulgences are part of life! Think about the upcoming holidays for example. It is NOT realistic for most people to skip the pies and treats, so why should we???
I like seeing the indulgences to be honest. There are some bloggers that just seem too perfect I suppose and it is kind of irritating! It makes ME feel unhealthy when I do splurge because I feel like I “should” refrain. I hope that makes sense.
So yes, please show the splurges because to me that shows you are real and you are honest!
I like seeing splurges bc it makes you more real! Eating healthy ALL THE TIME is incredibly hard and I like to see people let loose from time to time!
I felt kind of awkward posting spurlges, but heyyy it’s truly what I eat. I also eat healthy 90% of the time, but there are events where you really can’t eat healthy and its ok.
aw I always miss the lions when I’m in Vegas. They are usually sleeping.
Aw I love engagement stories. So cute!
I love Serendipity. I’ve only been to the one in Las Vegas though. I need to get over to New York one of these days.
I get the same way when I over-indulge and post it on the blog. But I try to live a healthy balance and “everything in moderation” so I try to get over the guilt! I think you’re doing awesome, enjoy yourself!
I don’t think you should feel even a little bit guilty! I know that for me, seeing your green smoothies, avocado puddings and raw treats (DYING to make the cheesecake, btw) makes me want to make similar smart, balanced choices when snack-time rolls around.
If you’re eating healthy meals 90% of the time then you’re probably inspiring your readers 90% of the time and that’s something pretty special.
i try to keep the phrase “healthy living” in check. i mean, sure, i eat lots of desserts and snacks and cupcakes and treats. but i also eat tons of veggies and try new foods and avoid eating processed 24/7. i actually find the “perfect” healthy blogs a bit boring. what fun is life without a huge hot fudge sundae?!?!
I am SO HAPPY you updated your blog with pictures! I am so jealous – it looks like you guys are having a blast. I am craving M & M’s now…Impressive you didn’t buy the entire store, because I would have
I’m glad you guys are finally getting your family vacation. I know your parents must be in heaven! Keep the pictures comin’!
Yeah, I definitely feel weird about posting non-healthy stuff. For instance, I just posted about my husband eating the KFC double down..and I am just waiting for the hate emails! LOL
One of the reasons your blog is my absolute favorite is because you’re so real and accessible; I love the fact that you’re willing to share less “healthy” foods; enjoying and indulging in treats is all a part of life! You only live once, right?
Love your blog and love you, girl! You must be doing something right, because you’re absolutely glowing in those pictures. <3
Yes I feel pressure about showing my indulgences, so worries here!! I am just glad to see you are having a great time!!
Oh goodness, you shouldn’t feel guilty at all! It’s nice to see when you eat something not-so-healthy…it reminds me that once in a while, it’s okay to enjoy a sweet dessert! One treat every now and then doesn’t harm anybody. Now, it’d be a very different story if that’s ALL you were posting
I am totally fine with posting splurges because, hey nobody’s perfect! Those desserts look sooooo yummy!
You are SO CUTE! I love your glasses!! Where are they from??
You know what, I have never been to Vegas….can you believe it 29 and never been to vegas?? We are planning a trip there soon!
Awwww, your husband is so cute! Tell me how NYC was in December. I want to go for all the christmas displays….sigh….
Yes, omg, I always feel horrible at first posting my bad eats to the blog, but then I figure I am who I am, take it or leave it!
Thanks for the wonderful comment today! Love it!
xxoo
I’ve always been of the opinion that the blog author can write whatever they feel like – this is because I like to switch it up too. I love posts like these and makes me miss Vegas. So share away I say! Or whatever strikes your fancy.
