Hi friends! Did you all enjoy your Labor Day weekend?? I thoroughly enjoyed my time off, and am JUST NOW finding some computer time! Guess that’s the sign of a good weekend, eh?
Here’s a quick recap for ya:
Friday night, we went to the opening of a new art show at Gallery 1988, called The 3G Show: Ghostbusters, Goonies & Gremlins.
Yes, we are total nerds.
But, seriously, who doesn’t love The Goonies?? And Ghostbusters and Gremlins, for that matter??

My husband fell in love with this series:
The originals weren’t exactly in our budget, but he was happy just ordering a set of prints.
I think we’ve actually run out of wall-space in our teeny, tiny apartment, so these will most likely be going in his office!
After the show, we wandered around in search of an iced latte for myself (yes, coffee is totally back in my life, for now…) –> I just love it so much!!
We stuck GOLD at The Oaks Gourmet!
I think this may be my new favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! Not only does their menu look AMAZING, they also carry frozen treats from MILK (my husband’s favorite “treat” place), and offer almond milk as an option at their coffee bar! (Not gonna lie… I might have squealed in delight when I spotted the Almond Breeze in their fridge!)
Mmmm… almond milk latte.
I love supporting places that carry non-dairy and non-soy milk alternatives!!

We spent the rest of our weekend catching up on Mad Men!
We had already watched the first two seasons, but fell behind on Season 3, and we were sick of missing out on the current season! (It sounds like it’s getting good!) We decided to rent the full Third Season and have a little “Mad Men Marathon.” Little did we know, Blockbuster did away with their “No Late Fee” policy!! When we checked out, the cashier let us know that our movies were due back Wednesday, and it’s now $1 a day for each late DVD! Ouch. :( It did light a fire under us to get through them FAST, I guess!
Even with 13 hours of Mad Men under our belts, we somehow managed to see two movies this weekend as well! We were really excited to see Going the Distance! (was anyone else really excited about this one??)

It was really cute! Definitely a fun date night movie.
I especially loved Charlie Day’s character. (love him in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia!) In fact, all the supporting characters (Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate) were really funny!!
We also met a couple friends later for Piranha 3D…

Ha ha. It was a good laugh!
My husband also had some fun with the Chronicles of Narnia standee on display:
The most exciting part of my weekend, though?? I flew to VEGAS last night!! My brother, mom and dad are all here, and we’re enjoying an old-fashioned “family vacation”– just the four of us! I can’t even recall the last time my immediate family did anything like this together (sans-spouses!), so we’re all pretty excited about it.
I’ll be here ’till Wednesday night, but in the meantime…
How about a giveaway??

Actually, this past weekend, my mother and sister came down to Boston for my mother’s 50th birthday weekend. We laid low and had cocktails Friday night, went to a FANTASTIC spa all day on Saturday, then went on a dinner cruise around the Boston Harbor. It’s been a long summer, so this weekend definitely felt like a vacation…and it was amazing!!
That 3G show sounds awesome — that is totally up my alley
I’m not sure about that Piranha movie though, I get super scared really easily.
My favorite vacation? Probably taking a weekend trip to Kansas City with Jason (we’re in MN) — we drove down for a conference, but it was the first time we had such a long ride together in the car and it was fun talking about the future, etc. Plus we stayed in a really nice hotel, which totally made the trip even better!
Almond milk in a restraurant! How perfect! I am still waiting for starbucks to jump on that bandwagon!!
Best vacation I ever had was def my honeymoon. Hawaii is so beautiful and I enjoyed just being able to walk around with my husband and experience the beauty together!!!
I blogged about your giveaway!!
Picking a best vacation is hard but I always prefer quiet and relaxing vacations so usually when I travel to the mountains, especially in the fall!! My husband and I are getting ready to go on a mini mountain vacation in October – so excited!
Best vacation was our trip to Tahoe, San Fran, and Sonoma….I never wanted to leave!!
My favorite vacation was a three day getaway to Big Bear all on my own. I got a room at the Adventure Hostel up there and spent the entire time biking around the lake, kayaking, hiking, strolling downtown in the pouring rain and having barbeques on the deck with all of the other hostel residents. I definitely learned a lot about myself and how spontaneous and independent I can be! It was an amazing trip
My favorite vacation was our our honeymoon! A gorgeous cabin surrounded by trees, covered in snow, a crackling fire in the fireplace, and getting to spend time with my Love. It was absolutely perfect! Thank you for the giveaway! I am so excited and definitely hoping I win!
I also had a question for you. I have read Natalia Rose’s books, and you seem to have had such great success with them! I just read the Clean book by Dr. Alejandro Junger and I was wondering if you were familiar with it and what your thoughts were if you were. Thank you!
My favorite vacation is definitely our honeymoon. We stayed on 2 different islands in Fiji, and both were amazing. The islands only accommodated 18 couples. We had our own beach ‘hut’, private beaches to lounge on, and even got to swim in the caves shown in the movie “Blue Lagoon”. It was magical, a once in a lifetime trip.
Last year my boyfriend and I went to the beach in September and it was PERFECT. Perfect weather, no crowds. I never wanted to leave. Thank goodness we’re going back soon!
best vacation is hands down my family vacation my senior year of college–mom, dad, me and my brother. we went on a cruise and spent a great deal of quality time together
o gosh i just literally squealed when i read about the macaroon giveaway part! thank you for holding this giveaway! my best family vacation was when my parents and I (only child) flew to Shanghai for my grandpa’s 88th (very auspicious number in Chinese culture) birthday. it was so much to be with my extended family since they are all in Shanghai. I felt like I had siblings!
Best Vacation was to Japan! I learned so much and had fun using the Japanese I had learned in school.
My fave vacay is Catalina Island. It’s only a 1hr boat ride from LA, but I feel like I could be in a whole different country when I’m there. I love the quaint little stores & guess which store I spend the most time in? VONS. I get intrigued looking at the expensive produce prices plus it’s fun to buy things they don’t carry in LA.
Your blog is so popular! I’m a definite Healthy Hoggin’ junkie :/ I want to try your Macaroons sometime. I don’t usually like stuff like that, but after your successful green smoothies in your office, I am willing to give it a shot! I’m excited to read about your new dishes once it gets colder – I know you are holding off on using your oven until it gets a little cooler out.
I am also very jealous you guys get to see so many movies! I have a movies-to-see list, but as you might guess, I have yet to ever get around to it
Best vacation resort by far is Maroma Resort in Tres Rios Mexico – it’s just an hour south of Cancun. So secluded, beautiful beach, really really good food – was good enough to get us out of bed for breakfast everyday while we were there. Going back in October!
the best vacation i ever had was a trip to amsterdam i took while studying abroad in ireland… did some crazy things out of my comfort zone
and also enjoyed the beautiful city!
Best vacation I ever had was this past year – going over seas to visit my BF in Paris and traveled all over in Spain and Southern France. I did have some great family vacations as well but too many to pick just one

I would be thrilled if I saw almond milk at a coffee place too!
My best vacation was our honeymoon in Italy. We stayed for a week in Rome, a week in Venice and a few days in Florence. It was absolutely amazing!

[...] Check out our friend Megan’s macaroon giveaway!! [...]
When i lived in Uganda(in East Africa) with my family, we took a trip to Lake Mburo which is the amazing lake about… hmm, i want to say 6 hours away? The campsite that we stayed gave you a choice of either cabins or you could bring your own tent, so naturally, we brought our own! The really cool thing about Lake Mburo is that it is RIGHT on the lake and hippos and crocs are EVERYWHERE- okay, maybe not so much cool as scary, but still! At night the hippos came up and munched grass literally 1 foot outside our tent, and i woke up and looked out the window and was just amazed. Being so close to a creature so deadly but at the same time just this little old hippo minding its own, was mind blowing. Definitely one of my best vacations so far in my life (:
Best vacay was hands down my 5 weeks traipsing across Europe alone, a year ago this month
I also tweeted (@AlmostVeganBlog)
Yum, macaroons!
Best vacation was a road trip down to California from Seattle and back. It was stress-free and that made it tops.
Fun weekend! And I love the ghostbuster blocks! So fun!
I would say for one of my most favorite vacays when my bf (now my hubby) and another couple decided last minute to drive down to Magic Mtn! Road trips are fun, unplanned even better, and nothing but fun to and fro.
Awesome giveaway!
Best vacation was my trip to Florida with my family! I can’t get enough of the warm weather.

I want want want to win these!!! Yum!
Favorite vacation is going to Sonoma County in CA to wine taste! Simple and fun! Also, always a great time.
My best vacation ever was mine and my husband’s honeymoon trip to Costa Rica. For the first half, we took the less-traveled path and stayed in some fantastic little bed and breakfasts. Drank coffee at little dives on the side of the road. Ate the best rice and beans and fresh fish. Saw all kind of beautiful wildlife and scenery. Then we had to go and ruin it by going to a resort at the end. Everyone insisted we had to. But we felt trapped there. Just Americans, no Ticos. And lots of American food. My stomach got pretty mad at me.
Anyhow, it was a beautiful country with wonderful people. I’d go back there in a heartbeat.
Ireland comes a close second, though.
As an aside, I love The Goonies. My brother was actually dating the redhead – Andy – when she made the movie. She’s from our hometown in NJ and they went to high school together. I had the biggest crush on Sean Astin as I was around 12 when it came out, so I tortured her by making her tell me all about him.
Anyhow, long reply, sorry. Love your blog and because of you, I’ve started drinking green smoothies every morning…keep it up.
