I Heart NYC

Hey friends! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA lately… between moving, work and travel, I wasn’t kidding when I said my life is CRAZY right now!!! And while it isn’t really slowing down for me this week, I am really excited to show you where I am today:

New York City!!!

It’s been too long… I haven’t visited since I surprised Austin with a trip here after our honeymoon. :D (for those of you who don’t know, NYC holds a special place in my heart because Austin asked me to marry him here!!)

This time around, I’m actually here with my mom! Our trip got off to a great start this evening with a lovely dinner at Pure Food & Wine:

I’ve been DYING to eat here for years, and luckily my mom was game. (she’s pretty cool like that) :D

We started off with an appetizer of cultured nut cheeses (almond and cashew-based) with rosemary crackers:

The cheese was eerily tangy and creamy– just like REAL cheese! And the rosemary crackers were addictive.

For our entrees, my mom tried the celeriac ravioli, stuffed with mushroom filling, served with dehydrated asparagus and a tarragon/mint cream sauce:

The flavors were perfectly balanced in this dish– the “cream” sauce was a nice compliment to the mushroom filling. I was also really impressed with the texture of the asparagus! Makes me want to experiment with my dehydrator when I get home. ;)

I opted for the infamous zucchini lasagna:

Isn’t it pretty?

This was an extremely RICH, tasty dish. The pesto, marinara and “ricotta” cheese were all pretty heavy sauces (very similar to the traditional versions!), so I found myself picking out most of the zucchini and tomato chunks to balance them out. Definitely a heavier dish, but great for a raw-food newbie! It definitely hit the Italian-flavored spot. :D

And, of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a dessert!

I’ve heard amazing things about this raw Mint-Chocolate Sundae–> and it did not disappoint! A mix of mint, chocolate and vanilla ice creams, topped with a drizzle of chocolate and mint-chocolate crumbles.

I die.

Me = Happy Camper. :D

We stopped by the One Lucky Duck Juice & Takeaway Bar on our way out:

We picked up a couple bottles of green juice for tomorrow morning, while I drooled over the amazing-looking salads I saw other customers enjoying. Next time, I’m eating there!!

Luckily, we have a few more nights here to enjoy here! I’m actually here in New York to take Natalia Rose’s Advanced Training Course– so I should be chock-full of all sorts of information for you guys by the time I’m done! If you’ve been reading my blog for long, you already know that Natalia Rose has been a HUGE influence on me, ever since I read her book, The Raw Food Detox Diet, nearly 5 years ago. Thanks to her, my whole outlook on life and health has changed! I’m so excited to meet Natalia in person and to have her as a mentor!

Speaking of, I better get some sleep! Don’t worry…

…we already checked for bed-bugs. ;)

I’ll be back tomorrow to announce the winner of my Sun-Chlorella giveaway, and let you know how my first day of training went!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!

Reader Feedback: Have you ever visited to NYC? Any other great restaurants I should try while I’m here?
